/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifI need everyones opinion about these two Lawn Tractors. The Cub Cadet GT 2544 vs the John Deere GT 235. Cub Cadet has a 20 HP Kohler, John Deere has Kawasaki 18 HP. Cub has 44" cut, JD has 54" cut. The reason I ask is because my boss has the JD and I'm and old Cub Cadet fan. I still have the 1974 Cub Cadet 149, it still runs and is in good shape to be as old as it is. Anyone want to buy it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
John Deere /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Just kidding

I don't think you'd have a hard time getting a home for a 70's era Cub Cadet in decent condition. Had a 128 myself. A tank.

So... what kind of shape is the 149 in and how much do you want? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like them both. The JD is going to cost a lot more than the CC. What will you be using it for?

My dealer recommended the 48" mower when I told him I wanted to mulch with my gt235 and am glad he did, It seems a tad underpowered even when mulching with the 48" otherwise of course It is the nicest riding/steering/starting/deck removing mower I have seen.

I have a GT235 for 5 yrs now a have been very pleased with it. I have the Briggs & Stratton engine though. Has been very dependable and I have not had a single thing go wrong with it. The steel driveshaft on the Cub is a nice feature though. But I have not had trouble with my drive belt though. I paid $4500.
