john deere gator 4x2 clutches

My local JD dealer wants $425 for primary clutch and $300 for secondary clutch for my Gator 4x2. Does anyone know where I can find clutches for my gator cheaper? Or maybe I am stuck with paying these prices.

What led up to the failure of the clutch's ? I've a Gator 4X2 and would like to know what to look out for, or to avoid. It has been a very good running machine for over 12 years now.

I bought this used 5 or 6 years ago and no problem till now. When I would put it in forward or reverse the engine would die. The clutches were engaging the belt and there was no slack in the belt at an idle. I think it's age or use that caused the clutches to go. When we took the clutches off I can see wear and there's a broken spring inside of the primary clutch. Adding up all of the parts I would need cost more than new clutches from the dealer. Still I thought the prices of the new clutches was to much. I have no problem using used or rebuilt parts.
