Saw this in Canadian Manufacturing:

MINNEAPOLIS, MNæ‚*ndustrial and construction equipment maker John Deere has signed a multi-year deal with a video and computer games company to develop and publish video games, and other branded digital content.

Soul and Vibe Interactive Inc. will develop and publish games and entertainment apps based on John Deereç—´ agricultural and construction equipment for consoles, mobile devices, personal computers, and social media platforms such as Facebook.

The company also has the rights to develop John Deere-branded 宋irtual apparel and digital items for avatars, digotal icons that serve as the online representation of a gamer or online user.

This type of digital content is becoming big marketing, and big business. According to the website InsideFacebook, a farm-themed game anmed Hay Day maintains an estimated 6.8 million daily user base and projects daily revenues of about $400,000. Zyngaç—´ FarmVille 2 has approximately 4.1 million daily users and it is estimated that over 400 million people have played Zyngaç—´ line of FarmVille games. VentureBeat notes Zynga brought in 80 million monthly active players during the height of the original FarmVilleç—´ popularity.
