hello my name is josh i have a john deere f725 front mower my problem is that i can start my mower just fine but then i mow for about 30 minutes or so and then all of a sudden it starts acting like its starving for fuel like chugging and the only way i can get it back to the garage is to keep turning on the choke as im driving it. im not sure if its a fuel problem or if its over heating or possibly an electrical problem. do you have any suggestions?

Hiya,

Keep the fuel cap loose the next time you mow and see if it runs longer, if it does, your tank is not venting and you either need a new cap or to unplug the vent hose. If it still dies after the 30 minutes, look for a blockage or other restriction (debris in the tank blocking the inlet) or a fuel pump issue.

My 2 cents,
Tom

Ok I will do that next time I use it I thought about it after I read some of the other forums about other peoples mowers vapor locking. Thanks for the suggestion

I had an f725 a few years ago that done the same thing. Ended up being a bad battery on it.

Good luck

I read some of the other forums about other peoples mowers vapor locking.

What was suggested as a venting issue would not be the same as vapor locking.

Another way to try to isolate if it is venting, is to run the mower until it starts to sputter, and then loosen the fuel cap.
If the problem ceases, it is the vent in the cap.

It ran for 45 minutes before it started acting up and I tried taking off the cap when it started acting up and it didn't seem to change anything I had to keep it on choke while driving it and had to take it off choke for a sec and put it back on in order to keep it from dying. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what my problem could be?

Sorry that didn't work. But look for debris in tank or a plugged fuel line.
