The guy in the link I posted is a John Deere dealer... he opted for a 1969 p/u because that is the year his parents opened the business.
I don't think that he was worried about the cost.

My uncle put a Perkins 354 in a Ford 3/4 ton service truck in the mid 1970's and ran it on pipeline jobs all over the Northeast and Midwest for about 15 years.

Really nice. All done before OBD-2 came out and before the earliest emission testing years.
