Well, nobody replied, so I started anyway. The 850, 950, and 1050 use the same design of brake, axle mounted shoes under a cover. First thing was the levers were frozen. Took off the brake covers by carefully tapping a thin putty knife into the seam. The shoes were worn, found some aftermarket ones on eBay for half price. I used the heated candle wax trick along with a rubber mallet to get the levers moving. Once free, I put a thin film of hi temp disc brake grease on the lever shaft to keep it free. The breather tubes were clogged with brake dust. As soon as my shoes arrive will put together and write a follow-up.
