What is an average price for a John Deere 850? I have one I’m about to sell?

Depends on what the Undercarriage is like. With tractors this big, a set of new tracks for the machine can be quite costly so that really determines everything else. Hours also is a huge factor as these are not cheap engines to rebuild. Having a cab, or not also makes a big difference on value too. So honestly there is no real answer as there is not enough information.

Just off the top of my head to give you some idea, I would say with decent tracks, a cab, 10,000-12,000 hours, will probably value around $35,000.

They are nice tractors though for sure. I have kicked the tracks on a few myself...

I’m guessing the OP is referring to the compact tractor produced from 1978 until ~1988.

Value depends on what options it has, hours and condition. $3500-$7000 would be a realistic range. The lower end for a 2wd high hour machine and the higher end a low hour 4wd machine with no attachments. As always stated, check Craigslist and TractorHouse for reference.

Is it 2wd or 4wd? Power steering? Front end loader? Hours? Rear remotes?

Without this info it's like asking, what does a truck cost.

The loader or not will obviously make the biggest difference. 75 and 80 series loaders are hard to come by.
