My car mechanic recommends replacing batteries every 3 seasons in northern climate. (I'm in south-central NH).

What? Does your mechanic need an addition on his vacation house in the Hamptons?

The youngest battery in the tractors is 9 years old and the oldest is 15 (except the one that I replaced last year in the hoe -- it was 12).

Heat kills batteries, not cold. Unless they are discharged and allowed to freeze, then cold kills them. With a working charging system, a cold climate battery will outlast a hot climate battery by a LONG time.

Thanks a lot for all the responses. I really appreciate it. I work all weekend, but will be sure to tear into it next week. This week I was busy fixing my 4 wheeler, so not much time. I will definately be sure to tear into it next week though. Thanks a lot.
