John Deere
I recently decided that my John Deere 455 with 40 Loader was not enough for the task that I had been throwing at it. I had owned a John deere 855 without a loader prior and liked it so I set out trying to find something else. I came across a 1986 John Deere 755 2wd with 2362 hours on it that also had a 70 loader with it. The tractor was in rough shape. and the asking price was $4800. I contacted him and went and looked at it. It was in even worse shape that I thought but I made a $3700 offer and we settled at $3800. Thee mid pto seal was leaking so I knew the tractor had to be split. I worked for a John Deere Dealer as a lawn and garden tech for four years so I know my way around these so I was not worried about the work. I brought it home and spent an hour pressure washing it then set out splitting it. While tearing it apart i decided to sand blast and paint everything while fixing anything that was wrong. I drained the all the fluid, cleaned the suction tube, changed the filter, replaced the mid pto seal, replaced the trans input seal, adjusted the creep, changed the oil pressure sender, new antifreeze, and new o rings in every line I had to crack. Here are some pictures of the progress.

Keep up the good work.

Nice pre-emission, pre BS tractor.

I would love to have MFWD and mainly bought this for the loader. I hope to find a MFWD tractor to swap it over on since tractors are easy to find. This loader on my area goes for around 3000.

I wish you were close and before you tore into it. i have a 755 4WD that would have been nice to redpaint it and put the loader on it and sell the 2WD it is for sale for $5500 in ohio

I had an 855 as my first tractor (got it about 2 years ago) with the 70 loader 4WD. The only reason I sold it was to get a SSQA and more lift capacity.

You have a nice machine especially if you can do repairs yourself. I ended up spending almost $2500 getting it in shape at the dealer (who was the original selling dealer) The good thing about that experience was realizing the dealer was not very good and so JD came off the list early on when I shopped to upgrade.

It was a very good deal. Total invested was $6000. When I traded it, I got $7000 and kept the rake and back blade even thought they are too small for the LS. Kept the boom too but see little use for it now.

Great job fixing it up. Would hate to hate to think what that work would have cost at my dealer.
