Need wiring diagram for 1987 jd 650. Old switch 5 terminals, new switch 6 terminals. How to determine which terminal not used on new switch.

Many ignition switches have one or two letter identifiers by each terminal telling what the terminal is for. The letters may make no sense to you but they tend to have the same meaning universally. Compare them between the two switches. That may answer your question. If that doesn't do it your can always break out your ohmmeter and see which terminal connects to which in the various switch positions.
