John Deere 5200 price?

Buddy of mine is looking at a used tractor.

1994 John Deere 5200. 1300 hrs. 520 loader. bush hog 296 cutter. Tractor, loader and bush hog appear to be very well taken care of.
Everything I have found to compare it to is out in TX.

$16,000. Too high?

Well taken care of tractors without problems are bringing a premium right now. Especially pre-emission tractors. If seller will let buyer run/work said unit for about 1/2 hour or so with no issues, I'd say go for it. It's not what I would consider a "great" deal, but a good, pair price, but it never hurts to bicker a little.

priced the other brand tractors have
what JD and kubota have as options
are standard on a lot of the other
brand tractors for less money

Seems upper end to me if a 2wd, but not unreasonable if it's like new.

That's a really good price if it's a 4wd and in good condition. I sold my 02 5310 for 26K.

That is a pretty typical price if it indeed only has 1300 hours and is in very good condition for its age. It would be several thousand too high if it had the typical 4000-6000 hours and was in average shape.

The closest thing Deere makes new (2WD open station 5045E with a 512 loader) is going to run about $10k more than that, for comparison.
