I got looking at all the hydraulic lines that hung below the floor of my new tractor. Im going to be doing alot of bush hog work and logging and didnt want to rip off a line. So I built some skid plates.
Covers everything from the front axle to the rear hitch, made in three parts out of 3/8" plate. I used alot of factory bolt holes and made some brakets that hold the rear plate to the rear axle. Cut holes for drain plugs and filters with bolt on covers. It is easy enough to remove all the plates with a rolling floorjack. Wish I had some befor and progress pictures but its to late now.

That looks GREAT! I should do something like that to my tractor. Just last month while working in the woods I got a limb shoved up into my HST linkage and had to bend it back in the field. That skid plate will save you a lot of aggravation!

Did you buy 3/8" sheet steel and cut it out of that? If you don't mind saying, how much was the cost of steel you have into the project?

It must be nice working under the tractor with a pit in the garage!

I 've been wanting to build a fuel tank guard. Now I am wondering if it would be enough? Thanks for sharing.

I left the OEM fuel tank skid plate and recovered alot of it with the new heavy plate. The one thing I made sure to cover was the drain for the fuel tank witch sticks out the back of the tank and had nothing to protect it along with what looked like the wires that engage the PTO. The powersteering lines in the front seemed like they could have taken a hit also.

Looks great. You should patent it and sell to JD. Good job!

My 6415 did not come with any type of skid plate for the fuel tank

Nice job.
