There was a 5' rotary cutter listed in the ads of one of the local rags, so I went out to have a look at it. Turned out to be a JD 506. It was in pretty good shape, but not knowing much about rotary cutters, I wasn't sure about whether it was a medium or heavy duty model. I googled it when I got home, but did not find much info. Does anyone know anything about this model?

I am pretty sure it is light duty cutter (i believe it was replaced by the LX5) mower.. My dad has one for our 790 and it does a good job.. IIRC rated to cut up to 1" trees or so..
Depending on the price may be a good deal.. they retailed new for +/- $900ish

Thanks for the information. They were asking $350, and it looked in pretty good shape. Most of the paint was still on it. There was a broken piece on the 3 point, but looked easy to fix. One other thing I noticed was that it had some oil on the deck. Probably a leaky seal in the gearbox??
