Hi BeenThere..
I'm not at home this afternoon and I'm using an iPad, so look over this unsophisticated method of getting you started on the info you want..
Go to the this sites other johndeere owning/operating forum and at least for today,, go to page 6. You will find a topic called 755CUT governor issues... You will see where I was the last person to post on that thread.. Go to the last page and start reading backwards.. It won't take but a page or two back and you'll get some info..
Go do that,,, them come back here and continue... The adjustment you will read about is a threaded cylinder with a lock nut, and the thing is covered by a cap...
When you remove the cap, you will see the threaded cylinder and you will see a rod sticking out of it with two nuts jammed together. Don't worry about the nuts or the rod.. It's the threaded cylinder that you turn to make adjustments...
To adjust... Remove the black cap,,, loosen the jam nut,, and turn the threaded cylinder counter clockwise to increase the governor sensitivity (faster response and power),,, clockwise will lower governor response and power...
I turned mine out about one and a half turns,, and that was good enough... Remember to tighten the jam nut,, and replace the cap..
It's a long story but what's going on here is that the governor on these tractors can give the engine many times more fuel than you can.. That adjustment controls how much fuel and also how fast the governor starts working..
On my engine now,,, I usually set my throttle to around 2900 to 3000 when mowing,, and now my governor starts coming on strong at around 2800.
In the old days the governor would work,, but would not start till below 2500,,, and by then it was too late and I basically operated in a bogged down state the whole time...
