Buying Advice John Deere 4310

I am thinking about buying a used 4310, it is 4wd with FEL and has about 1200 hours on it. I have owned JD 850 and 770 in the past and just sold my Kubota L2900. Some questions:

1. How will this tractor compare to my 770 and L2900 ?

2. What are the pros and cons of this rig ?

I had a 4310. It is a good machine that I think you would like better than the other machines you mention in comparison. I found my 4310 short on engine power in the e hydro configuration, but I live in the mountains and had very steep hills to climb. In TX, even in the Hill Country, your hills are not that steep, so a 4310 would do fine there. It is reliable workhorse of a tractor that can go and go for many years. The engine is a really high quality powerplant that is not overly strained in this application.

Thanks. Yes, my terrain is pretty flat with no rock, only black clay soil. This rig does not have have the hydrostat transmission. It has the power reverser trans which I have not driven yet. I plan to test drive it tomorrow. It does have R4 tires, but I prefer R1/ag tires, but I cannot convert later when tires are worn if I get it. Any feedback about it is appreciated. Thx to all.

The 4310 was a VERY popular CUT a few years ago, arguably one of JD's best ever. If you search older threads in the JD forum you will find tons of info on them.

I bought the 4310 today, I pick it up on Friday. The loader did not seem as stable or strong as the one on my Kubota L2900, but it seems like a good rig overall. I am used to have having R1 tires, but this one has R4s. I am told they still have decent traction in the mud since the tractor is 4wd. I look forward to playing with it this weekend.
