How come a 380 hr 345 John Deere gives more trouble than a 800 hr HDS 3225 Cub Cadet??

I'm a Cub man. The 345 is Dad's. I have an all original one family owned 69 124 Cub Cadet with all the paperwork and original invoice. Grew up with Cubs. He bought this 345 new and I have already replaced the time delay module. Then the fuel pump starts leaking which has set a lot of them on fire. Now the charging light comes on it cuts off after a while like it is starving for fuel.It looks like it can be anything from a loose ground on the PTO to a circuit board from what I see on the internet. When this water cooled Kawasaki is running it is a nice mower. Only problem is it costs for all them parts from Japan!!! Give me a K-series Kohler!!!

It's not very often you hear someone complaining about a 345. Excellent tractor. I just sold a GX345, and hated to get rid of it, but I needed 4WD. I guess you could get a lemon with any tractor.

I've owned two Cub Cadets, a 127 and a 782, which were very inexpensive to run. I bought a new JD345 13 years ago to replace the 782 that I sold to a friend. The 345 is quieter, more power, the foot controlled hydro controls are easier to use, the tractor has a shorter turning radius, the 54"mower does a much cleaner job mowing, has a higher capacity for heavy grass, and doesn't plug up with damp grass as easily as the Cub Cadet mower, and my wife loves the power steering. Overall, it's a much better engineered product. Would I go back to the old Cub Cadets? Absolutely not!! BTW, I'm a former I-H employee (4-years) and a retired I-H dealer employee (23-years).
