Ford 8N John deere 345
My tractor is a 1996 model with 1400 hours transmission was mostly rebuilt by JD mechanic 2 years ago. Last year it started leaking fluid and by end of season was making loud wine like a dry power steering unit. This year I started mowing for the first time and while mowing the power steering seemed to be failing and eventually it would no longer move forward. I shut it off and disengaged tranny and pushed it to the driveway. I started it back up and the whining stopped, the power steering worked and I continued to mow. After about 5 minutes, the steering started to whine again and get more difficult to steer. I shut off the mower, restarted it and everything worked fine again for another 10 minutes or so. I continued this process of shutting down and restarting with the same results until I finished mowing. So. could it be a clogged filter of some sort??
