After key is turned off takes another 10 seconds for motor to shut down. AT times it starts hard too both coils have been replaced plugs fuel filter and valves have been set also new ignition and ignition box that is hooked on to ignition is new .

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think these engines have a fuel shut off solenoid. I would take it out and make sure the pin inside moves freely. It almost sounds like it's rusty or is not in good shape electrically. Sorry I don't know the specs for the solenoid coil.

Do you mean that the engine "runs on" and coughs and sputters before shutting down?? As the previous poster indicates, does it have a fuel shut off solenoid?? If it does --- sounds like it could be a problem. If it doesn't, I would buy it a new carb.
