Hello,
We've been getting sluggish performance out of the FEL on our 310 and sometimes there's pulsing as it lifts up. Usually, adding fluid (there are a couple leaky hoses) seems to fix it, but it's been worse lately.
I would like to drain the fluid and change the filter. Has anyone here done this? Do you know the capacity, and any specific type of fluid? We have a couple gallons of John Deere fluid left over; would it be a bad thing to drain and finish that off and top off with another brand, or should we keep it the same? Is it just the one cartridge filter to replace, no screens or anything? Check the fluid with engine running or stopped? Besides draining and refilling, does anything need to be bled or will it work itself out with use?
Also, I was talking with a friend who has a 410 today and I used it briefly and his FEL behaves exactly like mine does. From what I understand, he said that there's a solenoid valve that will open the flow of fluid so the engine isn't pumping while it starts, and that this valve can get dirty/clogged and allow some of the pressure to release while it's running. Where is this thing and how can I deal with it?
Thanks for any information you can share!
