John deere 2520 problem

I know a guy that has a 2520. It starts and runs fine but the engine pre-heater light stays on. The light goes off when you speed the engine up, but comes back on when you idle back down. Any suggestions of what it might be? Thanks.

I will venture to state that the glowplug controller is faulty. I think it won't be long before new glowplugs will be required.
