John Deere 246 planter for food plot

I've been watching the planters on E bay and shipping from the midwest to my area of Pa. is est. at 400 - 600 for most planters. I 've been looking at other planters around here and this past week end, for example, I looked at a White 343 two row with fertilizer appl. but it seems to be too big and heavy for my tractor ( the manual gives its weight at 1290 lbs. which is too heavy) The farmer wanted 500 for it. It was in a shed when I looked at it and it looked like it has been kept inside. He pulled it around the shed for me so that I could see everything turn and it seemed to be in working order, but it was considerably bigger than the 246. He uses it to plant vegetables for a farm market.
