Oil & Fuel John Deere 2305 Fuel Port Diameter?

Greetings. I'm trying to buy my uncle some Justrite Type 2 fuel cans for Christmas. He will be using to fuel his John Deere 2305. I know nothing about this tractor. Should I buy him the can with the 5/8" hose or 1" hose? I guess the question is will the fuel port on the 2305 accomodate a 1" spout?

1'' spout won't be a problem, but could be a little awkward to see when to stop filling. Great gift by the way.
