I am rebuilding my John Deere 227 ear corn picker and designing it to pick the small popcorn ears. I am needing a balance spring and experienced information that will help me to take up the extra space between the stalk rollers. This is a ground up restoration project. Every bearing and gear box is being cleaned and reassembled. I feel that I know every adjustment on this unit and it's simplicity. This unit is being installed on a 620 tractor and both are being parade quality painted. Insane to be used for this purpose. Experienced operators say this unit won't shuck the small popcorn ears. Help me prove them wrong.
