john deere 2040

Considering buying a 1980 John Deere 2040 with 2500 hrs. 42 pto hp. It is in good shape with maintenance records and one owner. The price is $6990. 2wd Any thoughts on the price?

Also, trying to get input regarding opting for a newer 4wd Kubota 2600 with 27 hp/23 pto hp

Whichever I buy, I will be using the tractor for general maintenance on a small farm 60 acres

Big difference between 42 and 27 PTO HP. Define your needs better, decide which one does what you will need. 2WD will need to be bigger, heavier to have the same traction as a 4WD. If the Deere has the small open center hyd system I have seen on other 2040's, the green paint is adding $1500 to the price, assuming it has no loader. 27PTO hp is small if even half your acreage is in lawn/pasture/paddock.
