john deere 755 and 1530
I am looking at a jd 1520 to purchase. And it has an issue I would like to more about cause.
When the clutch is depressed and you turn the steering wheel back and forth the power steering stops working. When you let out on the clutch it starts working again. Any ideas? Also the left brake has been disabled. Tractor does have a loader.

With clutch depressed do all hyd function stop? Traction clutch has no direct connection to hyd's.

With the 2 stage clutch depressed all the way in steering stops working, let it out half way and it starts working again.
I did not check the other mud at the time I did not know p/s was power by the main hyd. I did notice the brush hog lowered itself and would not raise until I the hyd select lever out of position and back again. There is a small leak at the right lift arm

I am over an hour from tractor. What does it mean if there is spray. I can maybe have the owner to check

Spraying oil visible in hyd oil filler hole indicates leaking rockshaft valve seals OR possible leaking SCV poppet valves.

Could you give me some idea of repair cost for this problem. So I can adjust my offer for it accordingly. JD 1520

1st attempting to purchase a JD tractor with CC hyd's that has a hyd glitch is iffy at best. It appears you have zero knowledge of CC hyd operation so that makes it even worse. Problem could be as simple as a blown CC to OC plug seal on FEL valve if applicable which would take about 15 minutes to repair. If problem is RS valve seals that would take 2-3 hrs to remove RS housing and replace control valve seals. I also forgot that the hyd filter relief valve could be the problem or it could be as simple as needing a new hyd filter or sump screen cleaned. Your question is difficult for me to answer looking at computer monitor & not viewing tractor. Before I considered buying tractor it would have a new hyd filter & sump screen checked!!!!!!!!

Thank for the info. My other concern for this tractor is the loud chattering clutch when I let it out.
I have been considering a 74 MF 165 with a lot less issues.

I'm looking for an older tractor with a loader.
I have jd755 with everything but a loader and it is going to cost big bucks to put one on it.
