john deere 1070 won,t start

what u need to do is take a gasoline soaked rag and hold it over the intake, HOLD ON TO IT TIGHTLY. then try to crank the engine if it does nt crank its the injectors. If it does crank but runs either eratically, or smokes excessively. its the injector pump

This may not be related/, but my tractor stopped running suddenly when the positive power cable came loose. I reattached it but it would not start. After some time with the tractor and the local service, we found the culprit, the fuel shutoff solonoid fuse had gotten cooked. 30 ｢ later it is running

I don't think you can pull start this tractor as it would need to be in neutral to start. Unless you bypass the neutral kill switch.Sincerely, Dirt

Neutral safety switch will not have any effect on pull starting a JD 1070. Trans only needs to be in neutral for key switch to activate starter but trans can be in gear and engine will run.

Check to be sure the valve(parts key #23) & excess fuel return line aren't plugged. As far as I know no diesel engine with an inj pump will run with a plugged fuel return line.

guys, if in 4 1/2 years he has not been able to get his tractor to start, I would hope he would have either taken it to the dealer or gotten rid of it.
