I am experiencing electrical problems with my JD 1050. A while back it blew the top off a new battery. I checked the voltage output at the battery and it was charging at 18 volts....too much. I took it to a repair shop for other issues and while it was there I had them check the alternator and it was working properly. So the assumption was the voltage regulator was bad. I purchased a voltage regulator online, note: my old was was a mechanical one, the replacement was a solid state. I have the tractor back now and it's not charging at all. I also notice my fuel gauge doesn't work and my 3 indicator lights won't power up. It starts and runs great until the battery dies and I have to charge it. Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting. Alll wiring looks good and no shorts anywhere. I have taken off the alternator and voltage regulator and am having them tested on Monday. Hopefully that will tell me what issues I have with charging. Any ideas on the other electrical issues?
thanks in advance.
