John Deere 1030
Hi All:
I have a John Deere 1030 with a leaky control arm shaft. I got seals at the dealer and was told how to replace them by sliding the shaft in untill the seal was accessible. It looks to me like there is another bushing blocking my access to the seal. Does anyone have a parts schematic of this area and could explain how to do this? Appreciate any help at all.

To the forum. I don't have a JD so I can't help but someone will be able to hook you up in the next few days.

Seals can be R&R the way you describe but if shaft has excessive wear one needs to drain trans oil and remove shaft from trans case. Be sure when re-installing draft arms to shim all side to side motion from L/D control shaft. Putting L/D control lever under seat in "D" allows shaft to move more freely.

Thank you - I will update when I get the job done.

Appreciate the assistance - I got the seals changed and the leak is nearly stopped - I guess the shaft is worn. I also found it doesn't leak when I removed the arms when I don't need them on.

When draft arms are installed do you have side to side motion of shaft shimmed to near ZERO?

I shimmed them up and did notice an improvement in less leaking. Good call thanks.
