I think John is one of those modest guys that isn't posting just to climb higher in the TBN ranks and it doesnt bother him he's not receiving credit for his input.

He probably doesn't use the preprinted envelopes for the church collection plate either.

It's an admirable quality if that's the case.

John III, That is one awesome sight. It sure would be hard for me to wake up every morning and have to look at that/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif(not). As for one who has never been to NY, I really only think about The city and not all the beautiful country side.

I know of no place more beautiful than the Adirondacks. Mountains, rivers, lakes galore. And the lakes and rivers are interconnected. You can paddle hundreds of miles with very few portages. The Adirondack park is the largest in the country and is probably larger than the state of Connectictut. Lake George is the finest looking lake in the country, with the clearest water (along with Tahoe).

Looking at John's photo of the Hudson River, however, I don't think I'm looking at either the Catskill or Adirondack mountains. It would seem that the Catskills should be behind the photographer, and the Adirondacks would be off to the left of the photo. Am I disoriented, disoccidented, or what?

At the left side of pix in the distance is the beginning of the Catskills, Far right side of pix is remnants/trailing end of Adirondacks or area is called Heldeburg's {sp?} Range... and to be real technical, I place the "real" Adirondacks heart starting further north by Lake George about 50 miles n. of here... {I'm on the east side of the Hudson and looking basically in a South Westernly direction...}

OK, I knew it had to be me. For some reason I thought you were on the west side of the Hudson, southwest of Albany, and hence that the picture was looking upstream and to the northeast.
