I am interested in making the disconnection of a 3 point backhoe quicker by eliminating the need to remove the pump.does anyone know if it is ok to put a jumper hose from the pump output to the input?Is it alright to leave the pump connected with some kind of dust caps on the ports?I don't want to plug them in case the pump gets activated accidentally and becomes overpressurized. Quick realeases with a jumper seem to be the best way.Does anyone have ideas?

Since you did not specify what type of pump you have, I will assume you have the bolt on pump, the one that bolts on just above the PTO shaft? And you don't want to have to remove the bolts every single time you take the hoe of right?
I think the best solution is to replace the pump with a PTO driven pump that you can just slide on & off the PTO shaft. They use a chain to keep them from rotating.
Your idea of plumbing the in to the out will work short term just a few minutes of operation, but if you want to use the the PTO for any expended period of time the pump will cook itself to failure in hot hydraulic fluid. If you plumb in a 2-3 gallon reservoir tank, then that idea would work. However that amount of work, expense in the tank, hoses, fittings will be more than simply adding a PTO pump. Just my .02.

Per the advice of Bob Rooks, I replaced the pump that came with my LW-7 with a Prince HC-PTO-7A pump. This is the set-up that Larry describes.
I have been completely happy with it.
I made a 3-wheeled dolly with 2x6 boards and casters from Northern. I place the dolly under the hoe, lower the three point, remove the pins and pump from the tractor - takes 2 minutes. Mounting is a little harder, because you have to line things up, but it's still a one-man operation, maybe takes 5 minutes.
