While you have the cover off the fuel cavity, inspect for corrosion, a white crusty substance.

FINALLY!!! Got the Jinma running this evening. I'm fairly sure the main problem was "diesel bugs" which I brought on myself. This city boy didn't know how to maintain his country toy. Don't mean to take credit away from anyone who's helped me on this but my first note of thanks goes to God. He is the one who provided men like Bob Rooks and "thepumpguysc" with the knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot these diesel engines. What I found was some "sludge" behind the inspection plate for the rack assembly. It wasn't enough to completely stop the rack from moving but enough to not allow fuel to get to the injectors. Thanks again for everyone's input. I didn't like the tractor not running BUT I've learned a lot from this experience.

Happy to help.. Now ya just gotta get some alga-cide.. & FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.. its a case of, "to much is not better"..
One thing about algaecide is, once they stop clinging to the tank, they make it to the filters.. so get A COUPLE of extras.. & change often.
Happy tractoring.. TPG

Glad you're up and running again, and glad we could help you. Even though we go through 80,000 gallons of fuel per week, and the fuel is deemed "fresh" and comes from 100,000 bbl storage tanks, the fuel is still treated with a biocide to help in blocking this biological menace. One thing you can do as a preventive maintenance measure is to occasionally test your fuel with a test kit.

IF you have fuel UP TO the inj. pump inlet & nothing coming out, the control rack is stuck.
You'll have to dig deeper..
Remove the inspection plate on the side of the pump & unstick the rack.. its supposed to move right & left.. its stuck.

Sorry to dig up an old post but Im still researching before I call a pump guy in and thought I’d try what was mentioned in this thread. I’m hoping mine is just a stuck control rack as that is the only thing I haven’t checked yet.
Could someone please show me where the inspection plate is please? I have the Jinma 254. Thanks!

No inspection plate on that pump Koosh..
I havent seen that pump on my work bench so I dont know if theres a "cap" on the front of the pump..??
If there is 1, it'll be next to the inlet banjo bolt.. on the front of the pump..
U might be able to get to the control rack thru it..??

Just noticed your post, in this refreshed thread. What the heck do you do with 80 k gallons each week? Locomotives? Power generating? ???

Marine power generating. Four 3,000HP EMD 16-710G main engines, each driving a 4,160 volt 3Mw TEWAC alternator. Currently one vessel being converted to hybrid.
