Jinma 284/Backhoe pressure test question

This is really more of a backhoe/hydraulic question, but the BH is on a Jinma 284.

Where in the circuit would I plumb a pressure gauge to test the pressure relief setting on the BH? My set up uses tractor hydraulics, not a PTO pump.

I thought I could install the gauge between pressure line QD's between tractor and BH, but when I curl and hold my BH bucket, I get no reading.

That should be the spot, any chance you're on the return side of the circuit rather than the pressure side?
Not sure of your setup, ie power beyond, splitter or?/ bu be advised the gauge could show the lowest system pressure not the pressure setting of the actual loader valve......Mike

I thought it might be reversed and since my Gauge "T" fitting has QD's on both ends, it was simple to check the other line. Still no movement on the needle.

I'm using a Ranch Hand full flow kit, which sends pressure to the BH through the diverter valve.

Not knowing your level of hydraulic experience Brad so forgive me if this sounds like an odd question.
You are dead heading a function to cause the pressure to go up, is the bh functioning at all and you just want to check the settings?.....Mike

Mike, my knowledge of hydraulics is limited.

The BH is working. I'm just trying to confirm when the pressure relief valve kicks in.

I would suspect a faulty gauge, but it is new and was working fine when I removed it from the FEL circuit (I was checking the same thing on the FEL PRV).

It sure sounds like it, if the bh is working and you're in the pressure circuit it'll have to read something.....Mike

I also recently acquired the BH660. The input line is the one that enters the Control Valve on the side nearest the Boom control lever. If you tap into that line somewhere, you should be able to measure pressure of the hydraulic system.

Ron J is correct, however, you won't get a reading unless you are actuating the valves. having a gauge in that location will not only tell you how much pressure is required to overcome the normal static state, and aside from telling you the relief valve pop pressure, will help in diagnosing cylinder problems.
