I picked up one of the vacuum oil evacuators to use on my VW Passat TDI, my Jinma 284, Saab, and other machines. There are plenty of videos for the VW diesel so I knew in advance that I could remove all the oil from the dipstick hole.
I had trouble with the Jinma and could not insert the thinnest plastic tube to bottom out in the sump because it got hung up near the bottom of the external dipstick tube. I picked up some thin wall brass tubing from a hobby shop and the tubing diameter was the same as the dipstick outside diameter. So far so good.
By using the brass tube together with the plastic tubing I was able to insert the assembly until it bottomed out. Then I evacuated all the oil. To be sure, I removed the sump plug and at least a half pint or more came out, proving the extraction tube, while bottomed out, was not at the lowest point in the sump.
Has anyone else had this happen? Is there a solution other than returning to using the standard oil drain plug?
