I have a 284 jimna and i have heard about changing the transmission fluid. the book calls for a 30 weight but could delo diesel 30 weight be a better choice. also the rear end, should it be changed. if so how do you drain it and what weight fluid do you put it it and how?

The chinese specify 30 wt for everything, engien, trans, even hydaulics. Fortunately we have better choices available. Use a good diesel oil (15W40 is my preference) in the engine, use gear oil in th trans/rear (same sump) and front diff. Some people have reported foaming problems so non foaming type of oil is not a bad idea. AW32, R&O or even Universal tractor (303 et al) oil ( any 10-20W hyd oil) can be used in the hydraulic tank under the seat.
