Hey all new to this forum and to tractors as well. My wife and I bought our dream home in the country two years ago and ive got 53 acres to play around with and approx 2 1/2 acres around the house that is an ongoing work in progress.

Needless to same I learned pretty quick that a tractor will be necessary to do just about anything around the house. Im currently doing my best to save up the cash for one but looking for good deals day by day. This leads me to my questions.

I have found a used 2003 Jimna Farm Pro 2425 for sale for $3800 Cdn. This is just the tractor and does not include any implements. I guess the most obvious question is...... is it worth it? No mention of hours but from the pics it is in good condition. Couple of hours for me to go and look at it in person.

My primary use for it will be to clear my driveway (which is about 420 meters long) and my huge yard near the house. As mentioned above id also like to use it for landscaping so it sucks that there is no loader or backhoe on it. Just looking for opinions right now. From what ive been reading the positives and negatives on these tractors is pretty much 50/50.

Thanks in advance for any info

Not sure what the exchange rate is but I paid $6000 US for my Jinma 254 in July 2003.

To be honest a tractor this size without having a FEL is like having 1 arm. I would hold out and get a tractor with a loader. Just for reference a loader is about $4000 US if you decide to buy this tractor and add a loader.

Ok. What if I can talk the guy down to $3000 (that would be about $2850 US right now). Cant you buy after market FEL for them? To be perfectly honest im getting a little frustrated with the whole search. There is such a huge variance in prices depending on the type of tractor, year and implements. Little bit daunting.

Would like to get something sooner rather than later as im paying about $1100 per year to have the snow removed from my driveway, which is pretty much just money down the drain.

I bought a used 2005 FarmPro 2425 4 wheel drive with 40+ hours on it several months ago for $4000 USA. It came with a 5 foot brush hog, a cultivator, a good quality 7 foot rear blade and a 1500 lb lawn roller, probably $800-$1000 value of implements. The battery was junk so I spent $100 on a top quality high capacity battery.

I have since purchased a several more attachments and I am very pleased with the way it works. I have a 5 foot box blade and it is amazing how much material you can push around with it in a very short amount of time. I would love to have a loader but for now I am getting by with my box blade and rear mounted dirt scoop. I now have 84 hours on it. Oh I should mention, my fuel gauge doesn't work. I am not sure why but so far it hasn't been an issue, as I have only put fuel in it twice in about 38 hours of use. I have to many other projects to work on at the moment to wory about the fuel gage.

The man I bought it from paid a little over $6000 for it brand new with a spring cultivator and drove to Indiana to pick it up.

A similar tractor with a loader was listed on our local Craigs List for $5500 a couple weeks ago. I forced myself to not call on it for fear I would want to buy it. It sold pretty quickly.:)

I don't know what the tractor market is near you but here in Michigan there are a lot of choices in the $4000 range probably due to the economy. Many people buy these little tractors not so much because the need it, but because they want it (myself included, I have lived 59 years without one).

So when things get real bad the little tractor that is a want rather than a need is one of the first things to go.

Good luck, let us know what you do, and welcome to the forum! :D:D:D

One thing is for sure if you ever want an opinion is all you have to do here is ask and you will probably get more information than you really wanted! :D:D:D:D:D

Did yours come with a loader or did you add it later?

It came with a loader. I got it, the tractor, and a 5' King Kutter Finish Mower all brand new from a dealer for $9500 out the door. Made the deal on the 4th of July and picked it up the following Monday. I have a 48HP Ford without a loader and have not used it 2 hours in the past 5 years. Its 2 wheel drive and to be honest the Jinma will out work it.

As for the loaders there is a factory loader and 2 major aftermarket loaders that fit it. I would go with the aftermarket. They are much nicer and only about $500 more. The 4K price range will get you a Koker 140 or a Sprit 20 for it.

I would buy for $3000. Just be aware you will need to change out all the fluids asap. I would do this on any brand tractor but especially a Jinma. This will cost about $150 for fluids and filters plus a good afternoons time.

Do you have any idea what the suggested tire pressure is for the Ag tires on the Jimna? I was just out in the barn and my rear tires are running at 5 lbs at the moment. There is something written on the sidwall but it isn't in english that I can find!

Awsome. I just spoke to the seller on email and im arranging to go and see it on the weekend. Hopefully it is still available then as he stated that he has had many calls about it. Anyway I know I can pick up a used blower for the 3pt hitch for under $1000 so at the very least ill be taking care of my own driveway. Loader and backhoe will have to wait for another year or two I suppose. No biggie.

Thanks again for your help and advice,

I have my rears loaded with WWF and run 18 psi and run 30 psi in the fronts.

The recommend for ags is 26-29 psi for the fronts and 17-20 psi rears for general use.

For field work they recommend 15-17 psi rears. Same for fronts.

I checked my owners manual and it just says to inflate them to the proper pressure! My valve stems have pulled a little perhaps I have spun the tires on the rims a little from running them at 5 lbs while pulling the 5 foot box blade. I sure did have good traction though, I had a lot of rubber on the ground......I am going to take them to 29 and 20, when it gets to 30 below those pressures will drop a little.:D:D

back to the barn I go.....
