I have a gravely 8122 rider with a transmission problem. The pto won't disengage. I removed the linkage and took a long wrench to move the little arm on the transmission doesn't help It's got to be inside . Can any one be of help. I really don't want to take it all the way down if I don't have to Thanks Jim

A stuck PTO is a common issue and is generally caused by leaving the tractor sit with the PTO engaged. It is just an annoyance and not indicative of a part failure. The cure is pretty simple. Just mow with the PTO disengaged. If after a hour or so of mowing the clutch has not broken free, then I would be concerned.

After a few minutes they will generally come loose. If you have messed with the clutch adjustment, readjust it per the manual. I predict it will be fine.

Make sure your trans oil level is correct and that the oil is not contaminated. You might consider changing the oil if the tractor has sat very long. Most motor oil is hygroscopic and as such will suck the moisture from the air and hold it thus reducing it's effectiveness.
