when I lift my three point hitch, the rockshaft does not stop lifting until all the way up and i have to manually move the lever to stop the rockshaft valve.
anyone had this problem?

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

That's the way my 4105's rockshaft lever works; move the lever to stop (neutralise) the lift/lower of the 3PH at the position that I want.

Hopefully I've understood your question.

Enjoy the site.

my problem is that no matter where I stop the lever the rockshaft continues to raise or lower unless i fiddle with the lever to make it stop. when all the way to the top, the pressure releif valve is engaged until i fiddle with the lever to stop it. i have check the inline filter, its good. ???

and thx for responding, probably did not state my problem well enough.

It's not a problem about how you're stating your problem/fault... it's how you 'see' it.

That being said, have you adjusted the 'black knob' underneath the seat? It's called the "Rate of Drop/Lock Valve" and it regulates the speed (for want of another word) of the rockshaft.

It's on page 21 of the Owner Manual under "Operating".

I am not familier with the small JD's. but it sounds like you may have draft control engaged. Check the manual for the correct position for the draft control lever.
good luck.

No, it should not work that way,,

90% chance is that some part of the linkage has dirt/rust stuck in it,,
or is not freely operating for some other reason.

flip up the seat,, operate the linkage,, and watch what happens as the arms come up.

If I'm understanding your statement correctly when 3 pt is fully raised then hyd pump continues laboring indicates ""feedback rod""(item 28) requires adjustment. Rate of drop screw isn't the problem as it controls the speed that 3 pt lowers or if closed completely will lock 3 pt as set height.

Good post... and that was going to be my next suggestion. The lever is to the right of the seat but most of operation is under the left side.

I've always (OK, occasionally) 'lubricated' anything that moves, but doesn't have a grease nipple (zerk), with a shot of lanolin spray.

Had the same problem with my 3038e. If you look at the schematic above look at #18, it's a shear pin. Mine was sheared, replaced and greased the shaft and haven't had an issue again. You have to take it completely off to get shaft #20 out to get the broken pin out, steel wool the shaft and lube with some moly grease and reinstall. Impossible to do with it on the tractor. Be mindful of the positions of the shafts and how they are connected with the various 20,21, 22 clips and spacers.

The issue was when I lowered it it would drop fast, Raise the lever to say about 4 but it would not stop raising until fully up. The only way to stop the raise was to tap the lever down a touch.
