5030, the stuff you can wipe on is called Blue-away. I don't know if it is still available or not. It doesn't permanently solve the problem. I know that lean conditions will really turn almost any chromed exhaust system blue fast!
My buddy did a custom built singlewall motorcycle exhaust system years ago with Jet Hot silver and it still looks great today. He highly recommends it. His pipes started out as un-chromed bare metal.

I used to spend a lot of time trying to keep the bluing off of my Norton and BMW pipes. Some products, like Blue Away, do OK, but no miracle. Over time, I've come to believe that the discoloration kinda gives them a personality that the UJMs (ubiquitous Japanese motorcycle) don't have. But then, I don't do a very good job of washing them any more either. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
