Jensen radio in excavator damaged by hot weather.

I wondered what you guys use for radios in your equipment? My kubota min excavator has a Jensen radio it mounts on a bracket. The extreme heat this week killed it .Is there a good radio you can buy to take out of machine when not in use so it doesn't get damaged. My machine has a cab with ac. Thanks.

I'm thinking that your radio failure was coincidental, temperatures here in New England weren't THAT hot...low-mid 90s maybe but that shouldn't harm a auto radio.
What kind of air circulation is there around where it's mounted?

Its mounted to right of operator by the window .Machine sits in the sun. Have no shade in yard .My temp. at house been 86- 94 all week.

Never considered Jensen to be a high quality receiver in the first place. it's what RV makers use and they tend to use cheap components anyway. made in China with a domestic name...

Mine has a Pioneer radio that I installed when I got it. It's just a standard radio. I don't really think it's the heat that killed yours since all the cars sitting out there have radios in them and this isn't a problem with automobiles.

If the sun actually beats down right on the face of the radio, you could lay something over it just to shield it from the direct sunlight. Just a thought. . .

In the unlikely event the heat actually did kill it it happened when the machine was parked and closed up vs in operation.

Do you have the ability to leave a window cracked when its sitting in the sun unused? I find this helps the interior temps on vehicles.

You could mount it in a sliding removable mount. They were common for CB radios. I used one for an under dash radio/cassette player/equalizer amp for many years back in the 70s and 80s.
