Thanks. For whatever reason I was not able to log in OR retrieve/reset my password. Finally I was able to sign in as a new account . ???????????????????? WHAT? That's Nuts! Anyway, found out that the battery I need is same price at JD as it is at Napa. AND local JD is having an open house and parts sale this weekend.

Just measure it mark post location and go to walmart and get an everstart the same dimension post location, and the largest CCA and save about 50 %

False alarm. Came home yesterday to see a small puddle under the front of the tractor. It seemed to be battery water. I had the battery charger/maintainer plugged in for the last couple weeks, must have overcharged and boiled out a little water out the top. Tests as good as new AND IT IS THE ORIGINAL 2004 BATTERY! Maybe I can get a few more years out of it...
Ah well, I will go to JDs' open house anyway just for the free hotdog and cookie. <:O)

2004 thats it? And you have it plugged in? My 2003 6420 has 1 charge a year after winter and thats it! And it still works.

No, I do not have to plug it in, I believe that keeping the battery fully charged while not being used between seasons is good for the battery. But apparently my maintainer/charger is going bad. Also, it seems I get a lot less corrosion problems when I keep it fully charged. A partly discharged battery emits hydrogen gasses which cause the fuzzy white stuff and terminal corrosion.
Besides which we are talking about different tractors aren't we?
The 2210/2305 are notorious for battery compartment corrosion and short lived batteries.
