I'd still go for the cast iron brawn and economy of the Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel. But either is a good choice at that price, the water cooled/injected Kawi gas engine is a fine piece of equipment too, just that one notch below the diesel IMHO.

For the same money I would choose the 455. The diesel will use less fuel than the gas (20-30 percent less). Plus the off-road stuff costs way less.

There is also another issue regarding the Kawasaki gas engines made prior to 1998. They have nylon cam gears which can fail prematurely.

Now, go buy that 455 before someone else does. If someone beats you to it, the 445 is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

It is the right choice. If the 445 had been 2,500, you would have had something to think about. At even money, it is no question.

I'm already to late the 455 is gone now.

Yep, just like my brother, he ALWAYS runs across deals, or bargains, but thinks it through till the cows come home and ALWAYS misses the deals and bargains.

Unlike me, I'll buy any bargain or deal on the spot, heck one time I bought a tail gate for a toyota pickup to 50 cents. I didn't need the tail gate, didn't know anyone who needed a tailgate, but it was a bargain. I think I ended up throwing that tail gate away five years later....

2*Here is what I don't like about the 445
a-The 445 just isn't worth the same money as a 455 to me.
( Why spend $20000 for a Pento when the same $20000 will get you a Linclon?)
b-I don't want anything with plastic cams or gears.
c-Need a diesel to help justify going with geting
home delivery of diesel.The BX23 could use a little help in this area.
d-fuel is more expensive and it uses more of it than the455.
I'd have to be able to buy the 445 for around 2500 or so before it would interest me.

Maybe you should tell your dealer that the next 455 he gets in with less than X hours on it you'll pay him $3500 for it.

I bet he'd give you a call the next time one came in. Especially if you left a deposit to let him know you're serious. Heck, he might call you before it even gets unloaded if he has a deposit.
