Tractor
John Deere 1050 & 5105 , J.I. CASE 800 gas, & 930CK Diesel
I am setting up this tractor to do alot: remove stumps, roots, trees from edges of crop land and where I had timbering done. To maintain ranch/yard/pastures/fence,gravel roads. Use to excavate and landscape this property, more buildings going up and a house. Help recommend to me the best attachments for this JD5105 tractor. (Has JD512 Loader w/center scv joystick). (--In the process of mounting a 10A backhoe, and adding power beyond and 2 extra scv for the rear-). Backhoe will not always remain on tractor. Will be a challenge to add support and hangers to fit sub frame to tractor with proper support.
What I need to know: Attachments other than these, and how best to fit them to this tractor. - 1. Center hyd ram for the 3 point. what size and where best to buy? - 2. Grapple Root Rake, so many to pick from. What works best here for my needs listed above? Need to rip and tear roots and stumps out to be able to farm the ground afterwords.
Any other attachments that you may have used or can recomend to me for this tractor and listed needs. Thankyou.

Re: JD5105 series owners-What attachments work best with this tractor, root rake, grapple,

That's not it, that's a thumb. A ripper takes the place of the bucket and is used to cut through and rip up the trees roots so you don't have to a)do so much digging with the hoe and b) use the hoe teeth to nibble away at them. It looks like this:

Here's one for a trackhoe:

Yes! That I will but for my backhoe, Looks like the perfect add on for this task! Now I know what to look for. That with the proper root rake/grapple for the loader should be a good setup. I have no clue what grapple root rake is best, just know i need info, and will be buying one as soon as I have knowledge as what put on this unit. Thankyou !

Re: JD5105 series owners-What attachments work best with this tractor, root rake, grapple,

Just got all the hyd scv additional control port and the power beyond Kit, also two hyd rams, for the 3pt attachment, one for the center link. After $4300 to JD for these additional kits/part, that i still need to install, I am on the way here to be set up for putting these attachments on!!

Man, your dealer just got rich. He didn't even install the parts for that price?   Those parts can be had for way less than $2000 in any color other than green.

You don't mention any FEL hydraulics to control a root grapple. Do you have a diverter or are you intending to use rear hydraulics? Rear hydraulics work fine but for the kind of dough you are investing you might as well add either a diverter valve or electrohydraulic valve so you can efficiently control a grapple. WR Long is a good source for both and Nelson Long will tell you what you need for your tractor.

On the subject of grapples, I do the same work you are planning and use the grapple 95% of the time (bucket 5%). I don't know the power of your loader compared to mine. Mine has a lift capacity of 2700lbs at pivot pins. I use a 48" Millonzi grapple and think it is great. I've had it for about 100hours of intense grapple work and it works great. Cost is about $850 plus shipping. Don't get talked into buying a heavy duty grapple. Waste of money and cuts your lift capacity.

Re: JD5105 series owners-What attachments work best with this tractor, root rake, grapple,

Let me just post the reciept of parts, I asked my JD dealer what i need to install to operate the backhoe, and the loader I wanted to outfit with grapple. And specificly asked if JD has any way to put the switch on the joystick elec or hyd or whatever it takes, willing to buy it. I was told that JD has no such thing. I know aftermarket parts , i could buy this way, but wanted to stick with JD. My current JD5105 tractor with 512 loader has only the center scv for the loader on a joystick. the attached list is what i was told i need. Power beyond, for backhoe, I understand that, but the other two rear scv kits, ....when i looked up JD parts online it only stated to buy one kit for dual rear scv's , not buy two kits, one single and one dual as i have here. Guess i will see when the parts come in what he gives me. Maybe another JD dealer can see this and confirm this is the best options here.

It looks like he sold you an extraordinarily expensive power beyond kit in addition to 3 sets of rear remotes. That is confusing as you can run the backhoe from the rear remotes and you'd never have the backhoe and top and tilt running at the same time so there really is no reason I can understand to even have a power beyond set up.

He did not get you front hydraulics so with this set up you would use your third set of rear remotes to run a set of lines forward to a grapple. That works but seems silly given that you'd have this supernumerary and very expensive power beyond function too. JD may not make a diverter valve but I'm sure many JD owners install the WR Long kits which are excellent.

Again, I am no JD expert but on my tractor I have two sets of rear remotes and a WRLong FEL diverter valve. That allows me to operate a top and tilt and grapple simultaneously or a BH and grapple together. Total cost for this set up on my Kioti DK40se was a little more than $1000 dealer installed. About 350$ for one extra rear remote (comes with one standard) and roughly 600 for the diverter valve plus an hour or two labor to install it.

I just don't see why your dealer suggested the power beyond when he is also recommending three rear remotes (doesn't the JD come with at least one standard?)

Sorry I can't add much to this, but that backhoe ripper looks downright evil!
