John Deere 5045
I have a 3 year old John Deere 5045 with a factory loader and joystick control. Until recently my right and left tilt cylinders moved together, even when not connected to an attachment. Now one moves far ahead of the other, making it quite time consuming to align when connecting attachments. Earlier today I needed to remove the loader and found that this same situation exists in the lift cylinders. As the right and left cylinders are commoned together on the loader I don't see why one would want to move more than the other. My machine has about 750 hours. I do a fair amount of digging and heavy lifting, but do keep all of the loader pivots well lubed. I am somewhat new to this forum and would very much appreciate advice from someone more knowledgable on this topic than me. Thanks

Apparently one of the cyl has less resistance, and therefore moves first until the pressure is about equal.

You could remove the cyl bucket end for both cyl and see if the cyls move together.

Does your loader have this type timing rod(parts key #12)? If so be sure that both attaching pins are intact. This type rod keeps the cylinders in unison.

Tx Jim, You nailed it, one of the two pins had dropped out. Oh happy days a new pin and my problem will be behind me. Shop repairs are costly when you do not own a trailer adequate to transport your equipment. Thanks for the advise!!!

DSC_5410a.jpg I probably should stop using my forks to haul long logs. I bet it would be far less abusive on the machine if they werre cut to half the length, even if carried together.

This forum is great. Shows the power of the internet coupled with knowledgable people willing to help others. Have a happy Father's Day.

Technically if you have a bucket, bale spear, pallet forks or any other quick attach attachment installed then this timing rod in question should not be affected or stressed.

You can get shorter (24") forks from Artillian: Forks

Those small pins are easy to shear while hooking up attachments.
