JD455 lockout from seat/cab

So, I recently picked up a 455 with blower and cab. I want to put on a 3ph and rear blade also so I went to the local JD stealer and they quoted me as follows:

3ph 673 (cat 0, that's probably only/best choice for this unit?)
blade 475 (Walco, I think)

Seemed a little steep but I think I need it so, next I ask about how to switch from front (blower) to back (blade) without hauling my butt out of the heated cab and taking a knee on the snow and ice to crank the lockout by hand?

They quoted me 1200 in parts and 700 in labor. I can wear out a lot of pant knees for that amount of shillings.

So, I guess I'd like to know if anyone has a solution to this. Like, a little motor with a fork drive shaft that is mounted under the floor aligned with the lockout with a forward/reverse switch in the cab



Ok, less sophisticated ideas also welcome lol

BTW, I assume this unit on the back which drives the deck height will also drive the 3ph up/down and nothing else needed?

I put one of these: Fasse ISO Remote Master Hydraulic Doubler Valve Kit 700-1510 on my X728.

My top lever controls my box blade on the back and the lower lever does blower up/down and when I flip the switch for the valve it runs the chute rotation.

thanks for the link, I've looked at them - saw it posted several times here - but haven't quite gotten a grip on how it works so I was looking for a way around it.

If I understand you correctly, your rear box line runs your chute when activated? Did you, or can you, post a pic of your hookup?

Looks like shelling out mucho bucks for the technical doc kit will be a good investment if I can pull something like this off

After reading your post more carefully I see that I'm not giving you the answer that you are looking for. I already had the 3pt but needed three hydraulic circuits to do all that I wanted.

The 3pt control only does the box blade.

The other circuit handles the blower through the Fasse valve which has two positions. Position one lifts the blower and is running off the circuit that has float. Position two runs the chute rotation cylinder.

The kit from Sloan is pretty easy to hook up. The valve plugged right into the quick connects and the switch hooks to a 12v source and you are good to go.

The toughest part was getting the right hydraulic fittings.

I used it last winter and it worked very well. There might be cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing but I had other things that I needed to do and this saved me a bunch of time.

Two years ago I bought the parts for an electric lockout valve. Before I could install them I ended up trading the 425 for a 1026R, and never looked back.

Well, at 2 weeks in I won't be upgrading to another machine anytime soon, still need to figure this one out and add a few items.

My primary concern right now is if a 3ph will be functional using the deck cylinder only so I can use a rear blade. Once confirmed, I'll be ordering the Ruegg.




I may swap the eom lockout (front to deck under foot rest) for a 1/4 turn unit to save some hassle but that's about it for now.

V, The the deck lift cylinder works just fine on my 425aws. It will work even if you don't switch the valve just slower. My oem 3 point will lift my aerator which weighs between 500 and 600 pounds so a plow would be no problem. The rock shaft on your tractor will be replaced by a 3 point rock shaft. You will need to remove the rear weight bracket. I am not sure what the fittings are on the outside of the weight bracket are. They look a little like click and go brackets but they are in the wrong place. Anyway the new 3 point will have a pair of brackets that mount in that area that attach the lift arms to the frame.

pennwalk: thanks, I was leaning heavily to that conclusion but wanted to be sure before I dropped 8-1200 on the 3ph and blade only todiscover I need to drop another 5-700 to make it work. I figured the existing part (weight bar) would have to be removed but I think the wheel weights plus the 3ph/blade will provide enough rear weight - if not, I'll have to see how I can mount my suitcase weights (4) back there somehow.

XSKIER: thanks for the offer, what would you need to get for those parts and what else would have been required to complete your setup? Once I get past my immediate needs, I'll take some time to research this project and determine if it's something I want to move forward with before the end of the year or wait til next spring.

Had not, looks like the cats meow though! Odd thing is, zero reviews posted on their site.... and I would imagine anyone finding a simple, clean, low cost solution like this would be tickled pink about it and surely come back to make a comment - I suppose the same could be said for negative feedback but Aux-Hyd would likely have the ability to delete any of those

I will definitely keep this link and explore further. I wonder if anyone here has tried these components. I'd love to add the second line to the rear as well if I decide to add a cylinder to the blade I'm planning to buy within the next week or so... a second e-lockout would make this a dream setup for me.

Funny, I just did some testing (yes, this is all completely new to me) and with lockout open, upper controller operates both blower chute up front and rear cylinder. I was hoping to use the deck height adjuster to prevent rear cylinder from activating when I want the chute and only lower it when I wanted to operate rear blade (who cares if chute turns while using blade).

Turns out cylinder still extends, hopefully my deck adjuster isn't broken and this is just the way it operates... if so, definitely need the shut-off operational and electric would be preferred.

I gotta get the operators manual for this thing... but I hate to shell out 30-50 bucks for it, the tech manual I can understand charging for (though probably not 150!!!), but the operators manual should be a free download... and the parts catalog.... wait a minute, you want to CHARGE me to DECIDE which part YOU will SELL me??? give me a break

That linked cut off solenoid only solves half of the problem. You'll have disconnect one of the chute hoses to stop that path of fluid flow while you're trying to use the 3PH. You need two solenoid valves. One normally open, and one normally closed.

The service manual is out there in cyber space somewhere for free. I got it on my phone a couple of years ago, but don't know how to get it out.
