2003 JD 4310
I am looking at both of these tractors. To be completely honest there are things I like about both. One issue is in my area the JD is $1100 more. This is not a deal breaker for me but $1100 is quite a bit of money.

I like the Kubota's standard shuttle shift - I have to pay $1000 more to get the power reverser on the JD (and before everyone starts in I have no interest in the hydro at all).
I also like the Kubota's telescoping bottom links. Does anyone know if JD is going to start adding this option in the near future?

Now on JD's side of things:
First, I obviously like the reliability and the looks of the JD.
Second, I also like the fact that JD's gauge cluster is more down to earth than the intellipanel on the Bota's. I am afraid that over the life of a tractor this intellipanel feature will cause many problems. I plan on keeping the tractor for the next 20 or 30 years. Anybody have an opinion on the long term reliability of the intellipanel.

One last thing, I plan on buying sometime this winter, reckon the low financing will hold till then?

Thanks in advance for all your input.

You are right to see things you like about each. They play a pretty good game of leap frog, and choose differant areas to oudo each other.. Both are good machines.

1. I not a big fan of the intellipanel. But I don't think that reliability should be an issue with it. If there are any problems, Kubota would make it good.

The Deere has an electronicly controlled reverser, which should actually improve its relaibility.

2. Telescopic links are an option for the 4310.

If it were me, I's keep researching, but not worry too much about a a thousand or so differance in price until I was ready to buy. At that point, let 'em know you are ready and get your best price. Get them to include the telescopic links or iMatch up front. There was a huge price differance from when I was shopping and when I actually bought.

For me it came down to two major areas.
First, the width at the rear tires. I needed to be able to drive on the trails on my property to maintain them. The L3130 was just a bit too wide.
Second, I liked the backhoe setup on the JD.
I went with the eHydro because there are multiple tractor drivers in the house and not all are at the same skill level /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Either one you will really like.
Go with the dealer you like best.
I don't know if the low financing will last ... you can ask though.

I did not think the Intellipanel was a big deal either and not why I chose a Kubota. After having the panel now for a few months, it's pretty cool. It's most useful features being ground speed regardless of range and the PTO RPM. The trip time is also a useful feature. It is sealed very well from moisture of any kind.

Yeah, but Kubota doesn't offer a yellow seat, not even as an option. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I agree with that! Not to mention the cool green paint. I looked at the Kubota at the local fair and they seem very well built. But at any rate buy green, support JD.

Thank goodness for that, the yellow seat on my JD 510 is not a pretty sight. Yellow doesn't go with much but chickens /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
