JD4200 w/72"MMM:Lift Problems

The PB powering your backhoe disables the 3PH lift cylinder and if that mower is somehow lifted with the 3PH, you need to reconnect the PB circuit to send fluid to the rockshaft cylinder.

The factory PB has quick-connects for this.

How much hassle is it to install and remove the 72" MMM from your 4200?

MJ- It's basically pretty simple! 6-pins total and two hydro hoses! (Oh- Did I tell you that this uses a small hydro-ram to lift the deck?:D:D:D) The biggest PITA is getting it under the tractor and lined up because of it's weight. I can see where the new 'drive-over' decks would be pretty slick. ~Scotty

Wow, can't imagine using a FEL, MMM and Backhoe at the same time on one machine and certainly wouldn't look forward to mowing with that arrangement.
I much prefer the small L130 to mow the lawn, the 110 for fel and backhoe and the 4520 for most everything else.

Steve

I don't think i would or anyone else would try or can use all at the same time.

If I already had a MMM on my tractor with my FEL & backhoe i would cut my grass....I have two small riding mowers and it takes almost a full day to mow the grass with both mowers running....(Oh, I'm not riding both mowers at the same time. :D).... I ride one and i trained my 12 year old son to operate the other.

I don't want a finish mower, because i would have to take the backhoe off, and i like i idea of having all 3 on.

Scotty,

I'm glad you got lined out and glad you found your parts!

Do you have any pics. of your tractor with all 3 mounted ?

Well I meant carrying all three at the same time, seem the added length while mowing would be obtrusive. Lots of mower decks can be damaged if left in place while doing dirt work too. My small mower with 23 hp and 48" deck only has about 2' of overhang on each end allowing me to get in close without tearing up anything.

I didn't think you meant using all three at one time... I left that post hoping that a non-member wouldn't try it. :D

I have a lot of research to do before i buy one, and since it's getting late in the season I'll probably wait till winter to work on it.

(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)...I wouldn't think a MMM would put more stress on a tractor if all three was mounted.

I have also thought about doing dirt-work with one mounted, and wondered how much clearance I would have with the MMM raised all the way up.

I'm not near my 3320 to measure, but I'd guess ground clearance at 6-8" tops. The other clearance issue is to the sides, especially on the discharge chute side. So far my dirt work has either been straight ahead or directly behind so ground clearance has not been an issue. The MMM comes off for snow work in the winter.

I didn't mean to get this into a "How many implements can you hang on your CUT contest!" I just thought that JD did a good 'engineering' job, so that one doesn't 'clash' with mounting the others! Now, if you'll excuse me, gotta see how I can fab the BH, to to pull a Box-Blade w/ a Vacuum 'Clipping-Cart' behind it! Front Rotary Brush Hog off the Grapple bucket might be a nice touch.........Hmmmm...............~S

Don't forget connecting the driveshaft!

What you mention about getting it under the tractor and lined up properly is what turned me off to getting one. I think those MMM's weigh in close to 500 pounds; but I could be wrong.

I really wish the new drive-on decks would work with our rigs.

Steve:

That's my feeling about using my "L"emon 130 for mowing the yard due to its maneuverability; but I'm so torqued off at mine right now that I'm starting to investigate other mowing options.
