I recently purchased a 216 with mower and blower. Been a bit of a job getting it running, but now I am having to balance the choke and throttle to get it up to full throttle. Once I get it there, it seems to sputter and backfire a fair amount. I have never had a knack for carbs and setting them so I am waiting for someone to come out and help on that end. Unfortunenatley he won't be available for a few weeks. When I do get it up to speed, I try to engage the mower and it dies. Is this all because of the carb? I am currently draining the old fuel from the tank and going to replace with new.
I called the local JD dealership and they politely told me they didn't have any mechanics to work on it or that would know much about it as it is older than most of them around there. Yes I know harvest is just around the corner so why would they yank a mechanic for this job. I am in the ag industry also...
Our other branch has a guy that has been playing with small engines for 25 years, all I have to do is drag it the two hours to his place and he thinks he can get it running again.
I was just wondering if someone might be able to talk me through the carb set up as I believe this is where the trouble lies.
Is it still possible to get carb kits for these Kohler engines?
