JD110 TBL update?

It will be interesting to see what changes are made if and when Deere does. I could easily see having the updated cruise and loadmatch features. After almost 5 years I can say I am very satisfied with my 110.

Steve

As far as I know, the 110 has had loadmatch for years now, built into
the transmission. I just can't say what year they started with it, but
I would bet yours has it.

I would think JD is rethinking the model. It's market has been hit hard
with the current economy.

but what a machine. just beautiful to operate.

The m59 is too heavy to mow with unless it's just brush hogging. I wouldn't finish mow with my rear loaded r4 3320. Just too much ground compression.
While the laurin cab is really nice it's not as nice as the factory cabs for the 4000 series. I believe the 110 has always had load match, I think what Steve is refering to iss the location of the controls for the LM. As for the cruise I'm not sure whether that is offered on the 110.

Having both the new 4520 cab and the 110 with the Laurin cab I can say both are good but there are differences, the Laurin is taller, wider and longer than the Deere cab. The rear hoe section comes off the front cab when you remove the hoe and is fixed to the backhoe platform. This rear section does not hamper you when installing or removing the hoe either. The Laurin has two swing out side windows and swing out removeable rear window, this window can be reused when operating with the 3 pt hitch too.

The 4520 cab definately has more of a modern automotive styled interior with cloth seat but is it really better? I think from a sound level basis it is much quieter than the 110. The 110 with Laurin cab is more utilitarian in appearance and function but except for the cruise and loadmatch controls, tilt wheel their is little difference. I think for a backhoe the vinyl seat cover is easier to keep clean than the cloth seat, especially since you have to step over it frequently.

At least Laurin stepped up and offered a cab for the 110 while Deere did not, got to give them that.

For the person who want an all in one unit the 110tlb with all hydraulic options is the thing to have. There is no comparision to the convenience of being in the cab with access to the creeep to reposition controls. I have never understood why anyone would buy a rear mount backhoe attachment for a new tractor in this size range where you have to ride an external seat.

I'd sure hate to make a habit of finish mowing with my 110... it would not be a pretty sight after 3-4 times!!!

But --- I'm shopping for a smaller disc mower to cut hay with on the 110. If my neighbor can mow hay with his IH 856 and JD 4430 - shouldn't be too bad a weight issue with the 110!

I've used my 110 to rake and tedd with and it worked just as well as the my other neighbor's compact JD 4320. (Except for the cruise control...) And along with a cab option; the cruise control would be next on the list!

I guess the 110 has Loadmatch.... a few year's back - CurlyDave informed me that it was nothing more than a good, 'ol fashioned governor. And the 110 definitely has that! When you're workin' under a load or breakin' out some heavy, wet sand with the loader, etc. the engine will draw down a couple hundred rpm and then the governor will kick in to bring the rpm's back up a hundred or so and keep you from stalling out. Just like the older model tractors used to do...

The creep/reposition feature on the 110 is the cat's PJ's!! I cruise all-over from the back seat position and hardly ever resort to driving from the front when using the hoe. Piece of cake to use the steering wheel and run the toggle; forward or reverse.

If the 110 had a cab and another 20 pto horses; the sales of 4520's and 4720's and some of the smaller 5000 series tractors would take a serious hit - IMO. And JD wouldn't have to worry very long about the future of the 110! :D

Since the 110 is targeted at the long life contruction market that me be why they don't throw a turbo on the engine and bump up the HP. That's just a guess though. Ak you definatly know better than I about the 110 but I know my 3320 without loader will leave tire depressions in the grass. I think the 110 would be leader in it's class if it offered a cab and cruise. The 110 is just about as heavy as I'd want to tow for any distance so I feel it's a winner over the M59 there. I would be nice if these manufactures would list the really max weight lift to full height. That's one of my major vices with Deere.
I believe Kubota is a bit more realistic in there number on max lift weights.

Ak is right if your going to spend that kind of money for the M59 you might as well get a 310 or other full size hoe. They need to offer the 110 with a cab option.

Matt

I obviously disagree. Unless the 310 has an easy change over to 3pt/pto operation and HST etc, in which case I may have goofed. But there are a lot of us who want a "light-heavy" backhoe.

And the m59 runs pretty much all skidsteer stuff off the front, could I use my harley rake, rockhound, auger, etc off a 310?

Why an m59? Because its a tractor, skidsteer, and backhoe combined. WHy not an m59? Weight, price, and no cab ex the laurin one which is pricey.

Several people have commented on the 110 needing a cab like the 4xxx series tractors. Since you have to step over the seat to use the backhoe position the cab has to be taller as posted previously. So I lined up my 4520 and 110 side by side for a shot. Notice the 4520 is slightly up hill of the 110.

Nice picture, Steve. Thanks.

Do you think if Deere designed a cab specifically for the 110 that the 4-post ROP and the roof would be integrated in the total cab? Might save on that height difference, etc.

Just an observation -- I'd love to have a Laurin on my 110! :D But the $8K additional expense put a heavy wet blanket on that idea..

Likely the sticking issue is hoe removal and reattachment. Laurin has the rear section of the cab stay with the hoe.

I think I'd be perfectly happy with the 4000 series cab-backhoe arrangement of the hoe seat, etc. being external to the cab. I don't use the hoe a great deal in the winter and being outside in the summer up here is very pleasant with high temps in the 70's and low 80's.

AK,
The height of the cab is based on getting in and out of the seat when facing the hoe. I will have to measure the standard rops frame to see if Laurin raised it for the cab or if Deere did this in their initial design. It does give you a good view of the loader when fully raised though. Entry and exit is easier for the 110 than the 4520 because you don't have to duck.:D

The rear glass is removable like many backhoes and has a place for storing just inside the front windshield. The rear wiper has a coiled power cord that unplugs easily too. When you remove the hoe with glass section attached you can still repin the rear window in place and mount the filler plate with thumbscrews to enclose the cab. Removing and installing the hoe with the cab section adds about 5 minutes to the job.

I would be hard pressed to operate a backhoe in AK without a cab, you gotta be tougher than I am.
