I posted about a month ago that my Z810A w/54" deck is so rough riding that I thought I may have to sell.
Well, I got to thinking how bad an idea that would be. So , the redneck come out in me a little.
You all know what that means. I modified it!!!
I needed some spring under my butt, so I checked in to the oficial JD suspension seat. $300+ tax (cough!) Too rich for my blood!
So, I made a trip to Agri-Supply and bought a nice replacement JD tractor suspension seat for $85+ tax, and made a few alterations.
After removing the original JD seat and drilling a couple of holes in the flip-up base part of the seat(on the 810), I now have a very comfy, cushioned ride.
The only down side is that:
-I had to disable the seat safety. (Not an issue for me although I know it is not adviseable)
-The handles are a little closer to my lap. (Also not an issue because I thought they were too high before)
-Seat belt would be painful due to the range of up and down motion, so the seat belt is gone. (Once again, not an issue because I only mow flat ground)
The seat height as shown is about 11", but when I sit in the seat, it goes to about 6" which is only about 1-2" higher than the original seat.
