JD 5205 4wd
JD 5105(4x4)=$23,650 Kubota M4900(4x4)=$24,455

Both are new machines and equiped with canopy, 1 remote valve, fel (qa loader & bucket)..

I rate both dealers as good to excellent..I like the modern design of the JD compared to older style of Kubota..But I like the 5 cylinders of the Kubota compared to the JD's 3..I like the mid-mount joy stick of JD over the loader mounted of the Kubota..Tough decision..I am down sizing from a Case 1390(70hp) 2wd..Need 4wd for better transaction in this sand..

Thanks

Just looking at your comments, it looks as though JD has a 2 to 1 favor over Kubota. It is also $800 less expensive. If the comments in your post are the only differences between the two tractors that are important to you, I would rank them in importance and tally the score (i.e. if # of cylinders is more important than modern design, give it a higher rank, etc). Either way, you can't go wrong.

Have you had a chance to drive both of them back to back? Maybe, if the dealers are close enough, they might be willing to bring them out to your property for a test drive/demonstration run. That way you'll be able to compare them on your turf.

Drove JD last thursday at dealer ship..Will drive the Kubota next Monday or Tuesday..Fuel cost prevents any delivery for test drive at my place..I am about 30 miles from each place..

Well, spending over 20K you do want to make sure you have the right one. Both tractors are good tractors and will perform great. Maybe spending 50 bucks to make sure you have the right one before you spend the 24k I would have each dealer bring the tractor out to your place. Give them each 50 bucks to bring out. The one that goes back keeps the 50, the one you keep has to knock it off your bill. Just a suggestion. If you buy the wrong one you will kick yourself for a long time.

Is there any reason you are not looking at the JD5205? It is more of a direct equivalent of the M4900 than the 5105.

Buy the John Deere, at least the Company is from the U.S.A, not Japan. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The 5205 is beyond what I want to spend..About 2k more..It is the same as the 5105, just about 6hp more..Not worth the 2k difference to me..

I like both. Given that I have a JD less than 5 miles away, I would choose the deere. Closest Kubota dealer is at least 10 miles.

Also, I have heard, never validated though, that JD parts are cheaper.

I understand Kubota parts are "Expensive"..Seems to be no after market parts available as with other brands..
